Going for the gold package: performer series
This package includes workshops taught by skilled members of the burlesque community. Each class is 55 minutes long. A limited supply of snacks and water will be available for purchase but we do recommend you bring your own snacks and water.
10 AM: Chakra Tease, Yogalesque
What started out as Chakra Tease’s sought-after signature routine quickly evolved into an equally sought after yoga class for performers. Yes, yoga provides your body with amazing length, strength and flexibility but it also unlocks your sexy, Kundalini energy which is a must for any burlesque routine. Yoga harnesses the power of the breath or the living energy within every person. Conscious breathing in yoga, in life, and especially on stage, allows you to take your performance to the next level because it increases your confidence and gives you conscious control over the emotions you want to portray.
11 AM: Nina Nightshade, Fan Veil Fundamentals
Fabric props can add dimension and excitement to many styles of performance. This workshop with Portland, Oregon’s, Nina Nightshade, will focus on her favorite fabric prop, fan veils. Beyond fan veil technique, class attendees will also learn basic fabric prop knowledge, tips and tricks on the purchase and care of your fan veils and how to incorporate fan veils into your performance. Limited fan veils will be provided in class, but please feel free to bring any you may own. Also, please bring water. Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in. Shoes of your choice are optional. Barefoot is also just fine!
12 PM: Jacqueline Boxx, Body Language for Mobility Restrictions
Using a combination of mind-body awareness and articulated dance movements, Jacqueline Boxx guides "Body Language"
attendees through working WITH their bodies rather than against in order to become fully present on stage and beyond. This class utilizes an introduction to disability theory, discussion, guided meditation, and dance practice with an emphasis on adaptation for injury and disability. This workshop is designed to be fully accessible.
1 PM: Master Class with RedBone: Stop, Drop and Roll....You're on Fire!
Burlesque Hall of Fame 2017 competitor RedBone, will teach you the basics of the sexy transition to the floor, which is something every burlesque performer needs!
Stop - teaches you to hold your space within your movement and utilize your breath to engage your next movement/step!
Drop - the basics of a transition to the floor to make your act even more dynamic with physical levels.
Roll - and gives you what to do when you are finally down there...a roll that will make anyone sizzle and give you the confidence to work it out on the floor! Please bring: water, towel, knee pads (highly suggested, will have them available for sale), and dance heels. Attire: please wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move and stretch in
